Combining the null Kunitz trypsin inhibitor and yellow mosaic disease resistance in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill)

نویسندگان

چکیده

For the wide adoption of soybean varieties, it is desirable, that they are Kunitz trypsin inhibitor (Kti) free and resistant to yellow mosaic disease (YMD). The variety SL525 with YMD resistance was crossed susceptible NRC101 a null kti allele. F5 progeny derived from cross screened two simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers (satt409 satt322) linked allele resistance, respectively, one allele-specific marker. presence both desirable traits further confirmed phenotypic data which showed good correlation genotypic data. yield potential fourteen such identified genotypes having either at par or superior SL525, hence, represent improved versions SL 525.

Improvement of qualitative and quantitative traits in soybean [Glycine Max (L.) Merrill] through gamma irradiation

Gamma irradiation was used at different doses (80, 160 and 240 Gy) on Glycine Max (L.) Merrill cv. Hill homogenous seeds. A single suitable M2 plant was selected and evaluated at M3 and M4 along with its parent and three other varieties as control in RCBD experiment in Sari Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University’s experimental field. M-8...

Nucleotide sequences of cDNAs encoding the precursors for soybean (Glycine max) trypsin inhibitors (Kunitz type).

Proteinase inhibitors are widely distributed in animals, plants, and microorganisms (Ryan, 1973; Richardson, 1977). In soybean (Glycine max), at least three different classes of proteinase inhibitors have been identified, which make up to 6% of the total seed protein. These include the SKTI, the Bowman-Birk proteinase inhibitor, and its isoinhibitors. SKTI, which inhibits both trypsin and chymo...

Isolation and Characterization of Trypsin Inhibitors (Kunitz Soybean Trypsin Inhibitor, Bowman-birk Inhibitor) in Soybean

Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) has emerged as one of the most economical and nutritious foods. Kunitz Soybean Trypsin Inhibitor (KSTI) and Bowman -Birk Inhibitor (BBI) are the two major trypsin inhibitors in soybeans. The ingested soybean trypsin inhibitors cause growth depression as demonstrated in different animal species and human. The main part of the present study was devoted to isolatio...

Marker assisted accelerated introgression of null allele of kunitz trypsin inhibitor in soybean

Development of kunitz trypsin inhibitor (KTI)-free soybean is crucial for soy-food industry as the heat inactivation employed to inactivate the anti-nutritional factor in regular soybean incurs extra cost and affects protein solubility. In the presented work, a null allele of KTI from PI542044 was introgressed into cultivar 'JS97-52' (recurrent parent) through marker assisted backcrossing. Fore...

Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr].

In this chapter we describe an Agrobacterium tumefaciens transformation method of soybean that utilizes mature half seeds and regeneration from the cotyledonary node region. This method results in fertile transformed soybean plants and transgenic seed in approximately 9 months. Using mature half seeds as starting material has proven to be a reliable method that does not require additional wound...
